i-MYC (Mycophenolate mofetil) is an excellent immune system suppressive agent of choice.
It is a penicillin antibiotic derived from the fungus Penicillium stoloniferum but used for it’s immunosuppressant activity only and not for it’s antibiotic action.
Mode of action
I-MYC (Mycophenolate mofetil) acts by inhibiting inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase enzyme and thereby stopping lymphocyte proliferation and eventually antibody production. No antibodies means no rejection of transplanted organ.
This immune system suppression causes reduction of symptoms in several immunity disorders and makes it the medicine of choice in several segments like Nephrology, Dermatology, Rheumatoid arthritis etc.
Indications
- Cardiac transplant rejection
- Kidney transplant rejection
- Liver transplant rejection
- Steroid sparing treatment in immune-mediated disorders including immunoglobulin A nephropathy, small vessel vasculitides, and psoriasis.
- Lupus nephritis
- Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
- Pemphigus vulgaris
- C-ANCA positive (Wegener's) granulomatosis
Side effects
Of several minor side effects, the important side effect is Diabetes Mellitus.
Another considerable effect - increase in the severity of existing Viral, fungal and bacterial infections and increased vulnerability to opportunistic fungal and viral infections.

i-MYC Tablets are KIDNEY SHAPED and available in two strengths; 250 mg and 500 mg.
